The club nicknamed the Fab Mab originally opened as an Italian Men's Club in 1919, hosting boxing matches and community events, then became an Italian restaurant. Recently the venue was known as Fame.
The new Mabuhay Gardens is an event space that intends to host everything from slam poetry to comedy to neighborhood association meetings, and of course, live music.

"We're going to spin up and activate as quickly as possible. And we'll learn from some of those events," Tom Watson (owner) says, adding that the space will be used for co-working during Tech Week in early October. "We need to get people in through the doors, and get them to experience the space and figure out how they might like to use it."
