Gray Area presents a special night of artist-made films, selected by internet artist performer Molly Soda. Soda will be present to introduce the films, and afterwards will participate in a Q&A moderated by Gray Area Associate Curator Wade Wallerstein. Bringing together a diverse group of artists, Good Modeling Picture!! offers a variety of perspectives on digital culture over the last 25 years. More specifically, the selected films explore fame and fandom, self and other, and the power dynamics of perception in screen-mediated spaces. Livestream gifting culture, online encounters with strangers, and digital photography from Y2K-era party circuits are just a few of the techno-social phenomena through which these films offer insight into modern identity formation and self-perception.
